BHS Women Battle Bishop Kelley to Stalemate

Your BHS Women's Soccer team fought to a well earned 0-0 draw with perennial Oklahoma powerhouse Bishop Kelley last night at BHS stadium. The Tigers had come off a weekend of mixed results, winning the consolation championship in the NWA Spring Soccer Classic, and were looking to improve on previous results against Oklahoma opponents.

Both teams were evenly matched, and chances were at a premium. Only some fine saves by the Bishop Kelley goalkeeper, and your BHS goalkeeper Maddee East, kept the scores level. Midfielder Anna Passmore had BHS's best effort, a shot that was cleared off the line by a Bishop Kelley defender after good work by midfielders Sydney Suggs, Madison Howard and Ginger Olson.

In the second half, the physical contest continued, but neither team was able to find that break. BHS made a number of changes to help keep Bishop Kelley on its toes, including defenders Megan Sattler and Brianna Willis being shuffled into midfield and attack, respectively. With little time left, BHS defenders Taylor Muff and Carrie Koutocek made some fine clearances to keep the scores level, and Maddee East again came up big with a great save with less than a minute to maintain the tie.

Earlier in the day, the JV earned its biggest win of the season, an 8-0 victory over Decatur, who is playing in its inaugural season as a soccer program.

BHS Varsity plays again this weekend in the River Valley Cup in Greenway, AR, while the JV plays away today against Fayetteville.
