The Bentonville West Wolverines come into Championship Thursday with an impressive 7-1 record. The only loss for the Wolverines was early in the season to Bentonville and since then they have gone on a roll and earned a spot in the championship game against the Central Warriors. For the Wolverines it is about taking the step forward and winning a championship.

The Wolverines have played in close games and have relied on impressive defensive play to be in the championship. Coach D.J. Jones has instilled in his team a group that will put in 100% effort every time they put on the pads. The determined effort was on display last week when Bentonville West defeated Fayetteville White 27-26. The victory over Fayetteville White has set the stage for the championship game on Thursday.

Bentonville West has an impressive offense with running back Jonas Higson getting a bulk of the carries. Coach Jones may rely on the running game but he is not afraid to spread the opposing defense out, when he puts Hunter Coggin at the running back position. The Wolverines offensively are a dangerous team when the run and the passing games are both clicking. Bentonville West will need to be able to sustain drives in order to pull out a championship victory tonight.

The Wolverines defense is led by linebacker Josh Poyfair and it is a group that has played well all season. Bentonville West will need to focus on stopping a strong Central Warriors ground game, but be mindful of the passing game that Central will use as well. With it being a championship game the focus will be on stopping the opposing offense and getting the ball back for your offense. Bentonville West will be ready as will Central. The atmosphere could not be better and this should be a great game!
