The Lady Tigers defended their state championship to earn the 2017 title with a 4-0 win over the Cabot Panthers Saturday at Razorback Field in Fayetteville.

Bentonville's offensive attack was led by Championship MVP Lauren Hargus who tallied three of the four Tiger goals.

Cabot opened the contest from the outset by putting pressure on the Tigers defense and goalkeeper Maddee East but she came up with the key saves.

Bentonville got the ball on the Cabot side late in the first half and scored first when Sydney Suggs redirected a corner kick by Madison Howard into the net with 5:37 before halftime.

Hargus added a goal firing from outside the right side of the penalty area into the net giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead with 2:33 left in the half.

The senior then added a pair of goals in the 2nd in the final 17 minutes to complete the scoring.

This is the 8th State Championship for the Lady Tigers who finish the year with a record of 22-3.
